Community Life

  Devotional Gatherings
Devotional Gatherings are regularly scheduled meetings of worship - the exaltation of God - and sharing a devotional spirit of joy, love and fellowship. Readings are shared from the Bahá'í Writings and the Holy Scriptures of Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Zoroastrianism, and Buddhism. Participants are encouraged to bring their prayer books and sacred literature to share. Musical selections are often diverse, coming from a variety of cultures and styles. There is no established ritual, no request for funds, and light refreshments are often served. For the schedule of the next devotional gathering, please refer to the Calendar of Events.

  Children’s Classes and Virtues Classes
Children are the most precious resource a community has. Much like a young tree, children will grow and develop in whatever way they are trained and according to the influences they experience. Bahá'í children's classes are intended to nurture spiritually vibrant and healthy young people who will grow up without prejudice and with a positive, powerful sense that they are important to God and have a role to play in serving humanity.
Children's classes are held once a week during the school year for children and youth ranging from 6 to 18 years of age. The classes are open to children of every religion.
Virtues classes are offered for children 8-10 years of age. These classes follow the Virtues Guide curriculum, through which children are taught the qualities of courtesy, honesty, compassion, and justice, among others.

  Study Circles
Study circles are intimate gatherings for the study of the Sacred Scriptures. These circles have a special curriculum based on the Writings of Bahá’u’lláh and Abdu’l-Bahá, and are arranged as a sequence of courses. The first course, for example, deals with subjects of spirituality, prayer, and life after death.

It is a very warm, inviting and supportive setting where individuals are free to ask questions and share their thoughts.

The purpose of these cafes is to encourage a free and unencumbered discussion of current issues and philosophical topics over a cup of tea or coffee. Cafe discussions are moderated and rules of courtesy and respect for the opinions of others are followed. All are welcome.
